Eftersom jag planerat den här resan så länge nu så känns Tanzania rätt självklart på något sätt. Nästan som att det alltid varit ”meningen” att jag ska åka dit, vad skulle jag annars göra med mitt liv? För mig är Tanzania det där typiska afrikanska landet som verkligen kan erbjuda allt från den där safari-drömmen man hade som barn till Kilimanjaro drömmen man fick som vuxen. Jag föreställer mig ett land fullt av färger – från den vita snön på toppen av Kili till den röda jorden ute på savannen. Jag föreställer mig ett land fullt av kulinariska upplevelser och jag föreställer mig ett samhälle som är mer ”vi” istället för ”vi och dom”.
Kanske har jag helt fel gällande allt det här. Jag vet inte – jag har aldrig ens varit i närheten av Tanzania eller ens ett annat afrikanskt land förut.. Kanske är det helt annorlunda jämfört med hur jag själv föreställer mig det. Men min magkänsla säger något annat – min magkänsla säger att jag redan är förälskad i ett land som jag aldrig varit i tidigare. Min magkänsla säger att Tanzania är ett fantastiskt land och att det alltid kommer finnas en speciell plats i hjärtat för det (hur mesigt det än låter) och inte bara för den otroliga resan jag gav mig ut på utan även för dom gråa, ensamma och jobbiga stunderna i skolan där det bara var tanken på det här äventyret som kunde hjälpa mig genom dom. Att en dröm och ett mål som detta skulle kunna inbringa en sådan kämpaglöd och målmedvetenhet hos mig trodde jag aldrig. Jag hade allvarligt talat ingen aning om att jag hade det i mig. Kanske är jag mer lik Morfar än jag trodde eller kanske är det något jag lyckats skapa själv..
För mig är landet Tanzania inte bara ett land i östra Afrika som jag råkar ha ett volontärprojekt i. Jag planerade hela min resa utefter landet. Hade inte Volontärresor haft vård som inriktning i Moshi så hade jag nog sannerligen valt att vara på ett barnhem eller i en skola i samma land istället. Det var landet jag blev kär i först, sedan projektet..
