Idag är det Nyerere Day här i Tanzania, det är en högtid som firas till minne av landets första president Julius Nyerere på hans dödsdag. Affärerna är antingen stängda eller har begränsade öppetider och många människor är lediga från jobben, vilket inte händer ofta här nere.
Jag tror inte att folk firar det på något speciellt sätt, men är inte helt hundra. Har inte varit på varken sjukhuset eller barnhemmet på en vecka nu eftersom jag fick tillbaka min förkylning efter söndagens utflykt och mår nu ännu sämre än vad jag gjorde förra veckan så jag har inte haft chansen att fråga någon. Barnen här sa bara att det var en public holiday.
Så nu ska jag återgå till att sura över den här dumma förkylningen. Känns så himla meningslöst att ha planert det här i så många år och åka till andra sidan jorden för det för att sedan missa massa tid som man kunnat jobba på grund av att man är sjuk. Det känns ju inte jättebra att jobba halvsjuk heller som jag utan problem skulle gjort annars om det inte vore för att jag kan smitta de nyfödda bebisarna som har noll immunförsvar. Och så hoppas jag verkligen att jag hinner bli helt frisk innan Kili, det kommer bli tufft nog som det är så en förkylning hjälper verkligen inte till.
